President's Message

Welcome to the American Judges Association!

On behalf of the American Judges Association, thank you so much for visiting our home page. We hope you are already a member of our wonderful organization, the largest judges’ association in North America. We are proud to include members from all levels of U.S. state courts, as well as from the Canadian legal system. And we are closely affiliated with a wide range of other national organizations committed to better courts, including the National Center for State Courts, the National Association of State Judicial Educators, the Council of Chief Justices, the Conference of State court Administrators, and the National Association for Court Management.

The goal of the AJA is to make our able members even better judges. We provide top quality judicial training and education at our annual and mid-year conferences. Consider soaking up some of that useful information by attending our fabulous upcoming mid-year event in Memphis, Tennessee in spring 2018, or coming to our annual conference in Kauai, Hawaii, in fall 2018. You can count on hearing at our conferences from exciting, nationally known legal scholars and outstanding jurists on topics that are sure to be important and useful to your work. We also provide our members with quarterly editions of Court Review, a truly superb publication for judges, with top quality articles by outstanding scholars on subjects of interest to every judge. Whether members come to conferences or not, there is plenty they can contribute to our hard working committees. And there is much more. AJA has been a national leader in the key field of Procedural Fairness. This website includes our White Papers on that and other topics. It also includes quick links on this page to two more outstanding products, multimedia presentations on Procedural Fairness and a marvelous online Domestic Violence course. We are the Voice of the Judiciary, and make ongoing comments and issue media releases on issues of key importance to the judiciary. Our awards recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to our profession, who have been exceptionally courageous, and who have stepped forward to support the rule of law.
